What is wrong
Your website contains structured data markup—code that tells search engines what your pages are about—but the code is broken and cannot be read. Search engines use this markup to understand your business, your products, your articles, or your events in detail. When the markup is malformed (containing syntax errors, missing quotes, misplaced brackets, or invalid JSON format), search engines cannot parse it and must ignore it entirely.
Why it costs you
Without readable structured data, search engines have less information about your content and cannot display rich results—the enhanced listings that show star ratings, prices, availability, event dates, or other details directly in search results. This makes your listings less eye-catching and less likely to stand out to potential customers. You also lose the chance to qualify for special search features that can increase visibility and click-through rates.
How to fix it
Find the JSON-LD block in your page source (usually in the `<head>` section, wrapped in `<script type="application/ld+json">` tags) and validate it using Google's Structured Data Testing Tool or a JSON validator. Common fixes include ensuring all property names and string values are wrapped in double quotes, closing all brackets and braces properly, removing trailing commas before closing brackets, and escaping any quotation marks inside text values with a backslash. If the markup appears in a template used across many pages, fix it in that template file rather than page by page.
