Pages with no internal links
One of the 136 checks Lala SEO runs on a whole site in a free audit.
- How serious
- Worth fixing. Weakens how Google reads or shows the page. Fix after the serious ones.
- Based on
- Industry standard: Google does not document this one, so the check follows established practice.
What is wrong
Pages on your website exist but nothing else points to them—no navigation menu, no links from other pages, nothing. Search engines follow links to discover what you have published. If a page has no incoming links from the rest of your site, Google may never find it, or may deprioritise it because it appears unimportant.
Why it costs you
This costs you because those pages effectively do not exist to search engines or visitors. Someone cannot reach them through normal browsing. Google may crawl them eventually, but without internal links signalling their value, they will not rank well. You are wasting the effort of creating and hosting them.
How to fix it
Find these orphaned pages in your audit results and add internal links to them from relevant pages elsewhere on your site. Link from a page about a related topic using natural anchor text that describes where the link goes. If you have a site structure or navigation template, adding a link there is often the most efficient solution because one edit reaches every page. Check that the link actually works before publishing.
What the audit tests
- At least one other crawled page links to the page
