Multiple H1 elements
One of the 136 checks Lala SEO runs on every page of a site in a free audit.

- Based on
- Industry standard: Google does not document this one, so the check follows established practice.
What is wrong
Your page has more than one H1 heading tag. A page should have exactly 1 H1 tag, which acts as the main headline that tells both visitors and search engines what the page is about.
Why it costs you
When you have multiple H1 tags, search engines struggle to identify which one is the real topic of the page. This creates confusion about what your page is for, which can make it harder for the page to appear in relevant search results.
How to fix it
Fix this by choosing one H1 tag that best describes the page's main subject, and change the others to H2 tags instead. If you use a template, edit it there so the change applies to every page that uses it. Check your page template files (usually .html, .php or .jsx files) and look for the `<h1>` tag. Demote the secondary headings by changing their opening tag from `<h1>` to `<h2>` and the closing tag from `</h1>` to `</h2>`.
What the audit tests
