What is wrong
Open Graph and Twitter Card tags tell social networks like Facebook and Twitter how to display your page when someone shares a link. These tags belong in the `<head>` section of your HTML, but on your site they are placed elsewhere—likely in the page `<body>` or footer. Social platforms scan only the head section, so they will not find these tags.
Why it costs you
When someone shares a link to your page on social media, they will see a plain, generic preview with no image, no custom description, and no branding. This makes shared links look unprofessional and unappealing, which means fewer people will click through from social platforms.
How to fix it
Move your Open Graph tags (those starting with `og:`) and Twitter Card tags (those starting with `twitter:`) into the `<head>` section of your page template. If you use a page builder or CMS, look for a "Head" or "Custom Head Code" settings area. If you edit HTML directly, place these `<meta>` tags between your `<head>` and `</head>` tags, ideally after your title tag and before the closing `</head>`.
What the audit tests
- The link preview tags sit inside the page head, not in the body
