What is wrong
You have added directives to your pages that tell Google not to show snippets or AI-generated summaries of your content in search results. A snippet is the preview text that appears below your page title; an AI feature summary is text that Google's AI generates from your page to answer a user's question.
Why it costs you
When Google cannot show a snippet or AI summary, users see only your page title and URL in search results. This makes your result less appealing and less likely to get clicked. Users may also click a competitor's result instead, which has more information visible upfront.
How to fix it
Check your page templates and individual pages for the `nosnippet` or `noimageindex` directives in meta tags, and remove them unless you have a specific reason to keep them. These directives typically appear in the `<head>` section as `<meta name="robots" content="nosnippet">` or similar. If you use a search appearance setting in Google Search Console, check whether you have disabled snippets there as well.
What the audit tests
- No robots meta tag tells search engines to show no text snippet (nosnippet)
- No robots meta tag sets the snippet length to zero (max-snippet:0)
